Alhamdulillah Al Khidmat made history by starting the construction of the first ever Quran Learning Centre (Madrassa) dedicated to Hifz of Quran in Masuri, Sierra Leone. The first and only Hifz Madrassa in northern Sierra Leone since the existence of the country.
Tonkolili District, located in Sierra Leone’s northern province, is a culturally and traditionally rich territory. Magburaka, the district’s capital, and neighbouring towns like as Masingbi, Yele, and Mile 91 form the vibrant heart of this district. Tonkolili District, which has a largely Muslim population of approximately 85%, is known as a hub of Islamic faith and learning in Sierra Leone.
Despite its spiritual richness, many Hifz students in Tonkolili District have difficulty in memorising and learning the Qur’an. More than 1,500 students are currently memorising holy verses in open spaces due to a lack of adequate study facilities. This lack of infrastructure is a considerable barrier to their educational and spiritual development.
Recognizing this essential need, Al Khidmat Welfare UK has set out on a noble mission to provide a solution. With the goal of empowering these aspiring Hifz students, we are constructing multiple Madrassas throughout the Tonkolili district. Our goal is ambitious yet clear: to build a construct Qur'an Learning & Hifz Centre in each of the district's ten townships.
Each centre will be equipped with modern facilities and services, allowing it to accommodate up to 250 Hifz students comfortably.
