Severe flooding swept through Feni and southeastern Bangladesh on Friday, August 23, 2024. Heavy rains also hit northeastern India, pushing rivers in both countries to dangerous levels and resulting in the deaths of at least 36 people. In Bangladesh, the floods have affected close to 4.5 million individuals, with many homes submerged and residents forced to seek safety on rooftops. According to the Ministry of Disaster Management, at least 13 people have lost their lives, and nearly 200,000 have been evacuated from affected areas.
